Basic Embellishing Stitches

Demonstration of 5 basic embroidery stitches to use for seam embellishments. Kits will be sold using the Heart templates we pieced in January. Hostess: Martha Everett

March – Judith Baker Montano Video viewing – We will offer a private showing of this excellent video offered by Judith Baker Montano demonstrating her piecing method. The exact dates and number of times and location will depend on the amount of interest. Sign-up sheets will be available in February. This will be a great way to get excited about her visit in April, or get a refresher of the basics.

April 10th – Open Stitch Meeting – Perfect time to get caught up on a project just come to stitch and questions or share accomplishments.

April 16th & 17th, 2010 – Judith Baker Montano 2-Day Workshop – Painting with Fabrics A 2-day class creating and embellishing a mixed-media fabric composition of a landscape/seascape/gardenscape from a photo or picture. Day 1 we focus on translating a photo or picture into a fabric composition and Day 2 we embellish it. Class will be held at the Bear Valley Church. We will have a maximum number of 15 students.
Class fee: Old Members $150 New members $200 Non Members $225

May 8th Meeting –Long and Short Stitch – A demonstration of the long and short stitch embroidery design and techniques, that can be worked into your Crazy Quilt project. Perfect for little animals or birds or tree trunks. This is a Field Trip to Windsor, CO and will include a shopping trip to the Berry Patch, in Niwot. Hostess: Leslie Ehrlich

May 22nd, 2010 - Helen Gibb Class --- Ribbon Dyeing & Embellishing (½ day class) We will travel to Helens studio in Louisville CO to take this class. We will experience dyeing ribbon and embellishing a sachet with flowers we make from your hand-dyed ribbons. Kits/supplies will be available for purchase, and include Sachet, ribbons, trims lace and the use of dyes brushes, needle & thread.
Class Fee: $25 plus $25 kit fee = total price: $50

June 12th, 2010 – Lynda Faires Class - Modern Crazy Quilting by Machine Lynda teaches a basic stitch and flip crazy patch technique onto a foundation fabric and then extensively covers various machine embellishment techniques like decorative stitching, couching, bead strands, bobbin stitching, appliqué, how to use the right needles and threads, how to adjust the tension, etc. As well as some ribbon rosettes and leaves, prairie points and yo-yos all by machine. Class will be held at the Bear Valley Church.
