Creative Needle - silk ribbon garden and beading designs
Saturday, April 21 - 10 am to 1 pm
The class will be held at Creative Needle, 6905 S. Broadway, Littleton
Our topic is creating a silk ribbon garden with several wildflowers on a 12x12 fabric suitable for framing or to use on a crazy quilt. The techniques to create the flowers will range from simple stitches to more complex for those who have done silk ribbon embroidery.
Following 2 hours of silk ribbon embroidery will be a demonstration of beading techniques to create beading designs on your crazy quilt.
Bring an embroidery hoop about 6 inches, scissors, and thimble if you use one. The classes will cost approximately $30 total. Supplies are included in the total.

Crazy Quilting (CQ) can be both an old-style Victorian art form and a modern type of fiber art where the bright color combinations and eye-catching embellishments are used. CQ can be done by hand, by machine, or both. Numerous types of needlework techniques can be used in the embellishment, including silk ribbon embroidery, Brazilian embroidery, goldwork embroidery, beaded stitches, and traditional embroidery stitches.
People who are attracted to CQ like lots of visual interest, have a large stash of sewing and embroidery-related items they're saving for some future project, enjoy learning new techniques, and often have several different projects underway at once.
Creativity and spontaneity are the marks of a crazy quilter. Are you one?
RMCQ holds monthly meetings that include short classes to learn new techniques, as well as beginners workshops for an introduction to CQ, and 1- and 2-day workshops with local, national, and international teachers. Come check us out!
